Malware: 1) Install vulnerable ActiveX control 2) Exploit it |
The vulnerability makes it possible for an attacker to exploit the ActiveX control through Internet Explorer with a specially-crafted Web page and gain the same user rights as someone who is logged in. The good news for those who use the latest version of Microsoft Office is that Access 2007 is not affected: the vulnerability is only present in the ActiveX control for the Snapshot Viewers for Access 2000, Access 2002, Access 2003, and the standalone Snapshot Viewer.
